Agents Guide
Basic eligibility requirements
- Insured must be engaged in the residential building
industry (i.e. builder, remodeler, subcontractor or supplier)
- Prior experience - BIA Inc. requires 3 years trade
and management experience
- Three-year loss ratio (incurred claims cost over
annual written premium) less than 65 percent
- Must comply with BIA Inc. loss control standards
- Must maintain a safe working environment and demonstrate
an aggressive attitude toward safety
- Minimum premium - assigned risk class minimum premiums

Builders Association of Virginia through a local Home Builders

Submission Requirements
- Fully completed Workers Compensation Accord
Application which includes:
- Description of operations
- Experience of management
- Federal ID#
- Street address as well as mailing address
- Balance Sheet (All members must
be able to exhibit a positive net worth.) See
sample balance sheet.
- Fully completed BIA
member application (Disclaimer: If the application
does not print exactly as it appears on the screen, please call
BIA for an application. If you submit the wrong application it
may affect your effective date.) To read and print

Note: The BIA Membership Application (Indemnity
Agreement) cannot be a faxed copy with original signatures. As mandated
by the State of Virginia, coverage must be denied if this application
appears to be faxed at any time.

desiring to be excluded from coverage
- Balance sheet showing a positive net worth
- Premium deposit checks made payable to BIA Inc.
- Local Home Builders Association Associate Application
and check made payable to the HBA. Locate your local
HBA for an application and annual dues information

Monthly Service Fee Checks are distributed
by BIA Inc. based on collected premium. Any service fees payable
to agent will be accrued until it reaches a monthly minimum of $25.00.
Note: No agent has binding
authority. BIA Inc. must approve all submissions prior to binding
coverage.

Plans
- Annual - 100% at inception
- Semi-Annual - 50% down and one installment
- Monthly - 25% down and 8 monthly installments
- Self Reporting - 25% down and 11 installments
All payment plans are free of fees or interest
charges. A reinstatement fee of $50.00 will be charged if any policy
is reinstated after the cancellation date.

Excess Insurance
BIA Inc. provides its members the added security of
excess coverage. Call BIA for details. Excess Insurance Carrier:

Loss Control Requirements
It is a mandatory requirement that all members are subject to a Loss Control visit by our Loss Control Consultant Jackie Adkins
